Jim Hughes Tournament – The annual club tournament for all members was held on Sunday 10th September and was a great success!

Defending title holders Andy Ivel and Sue Yoward were unable to retain the trophy as James Edmond, in his first ever club competition at Rufforth displayed some sensational tennis to take the title from the Chairman. Kate Lewis proved too strong in the ladies section securing her name on the trophy for the second time in recent years! Well played to all those that entered especially the runners-up – Andy Ivel and Christine Edmond. It was a cold and damp afternoon signalling the arrival of winter tennis and therefore also the arrival of James’ leggings…! The standard of tennis was high throughout the afternoon, showing just why 3 of our mixed teams have gained league promotion over the past season. Tennis continues throughout the winter with regular club nights and through our defence of the Wetherby Winter League trophy.
